Businessman Honey Khatwani, who is facing fraud charges amounting to Sh356 million, has suffered another major setback after a court ordered the auction of his properties in Baba Dogo over accumulated rent arrears. This situation has put Honey Khatwani in a dire position regarding his business investments.
On August 15, 2025, senior principal magistrate Lucy Njora directed that police officers from Parklands and Ruaraka police stations supervise the auction of Khatwani’s godowns in Baba Dogo.
The ruling was delivered in case number MCCCMISC/E2036/2025, pitting auctioneer Zacharia Baraza t/a Siuma Auctioneers and Oki General Trading Ltd against Galaxy Middle East & Africa Ltd and its directors, including Mr Khatwani.
The landlords moved to court, claiming that prolonged failure to pay rent had crippled their operations and left them with no choice but to seek legal recourse.

The Legal Struggles of Honey Khatwani
Magistrate Njora issued orders for rent distress, instructing the police to monitor the execution to prevent any disturbances.
“This court issues an order that the police officers in charge of Parklands and Ruaraka police stations do supervise execution of the distress,” read part of the ruling.
The court further issued a penal notice, warning that any disobedience of the directive would attract legal consequences. This effectively compelled Khatwani and his company to either settle the arrears or endure their assets being auctioned off.
While supporters of the embattled entrepreneur have described the move as “intimidation and public humiliation,”, landlords insist the decision was purely commercial and necessary for survival.
Many believe that the treatment of Honey Khatwani in this case is unwarranted and could set a troubling precedent for other entrepreneurs.
“Honey Khatwani has built his name in this city for years, and now he is being cornered in public over a commercial disagreement that could have been resolved without humiliating auctions,” said a close associate.
The auction at Baba Dogo marks yet another legal battle for Khatwani, who is already grappling with fraud charges involving Sh356 million. His growing legal woes now cast uncertainty over the future of his business empire.
The ongoing issues surrounding Honey Khatwani have raised concerns among his supporters and business partners alike.
