Apexloads offers a unified platform tailored for transporters and freight forwarders, addressing the unique challenges of Africa’s logistics ecosystem. With features such as load boards, transportation management systems, real-time shipment tracking, and invoice factoring, the platform enhances efficiency and transparency across supply chains. Thuo’s vision for Apexloads is not just to simplify logistics but to drive economic growth and innovation across the continent.
“Our goal is to provide sustainable solutions to Africa’s logistical bottlenecks while leveraging technology to create value for businesses and communities,” Thuo said during a recent panel at the accelerator.
A Platform for Global Impact
Apexloads was among 20 startups, including three other African innovators, that showcased their solutions during the Techstars Washington DC Demo Day in December 2024. The program provides early-stage startups with mentorship, funding, and access to a global network of investors and industry leaders, with J.P. Morgan committing $80 million to this initiative. The combined valuation of companies in the Techstars network exceeds $159 billion, underscoring the program’s influence in nurturing groundbreaking talent.
African Startups Making Waves
While Apexloads takes center stage, three other African startups also demonstrated their potential during the accelerator:
LyfPlus (Tanzania): Founded by William Andrew Mduma, this platform enhances healthcare access through telehealth, e-pharmacies, and AI-driven clinical support.
Rexial (Uganda): Led by Aéko Ongodia, Rexial streamlines recurring payments with an API-driven solution for seamless subscription management.
Cargoplug (Nigeria): Co-founded by Kikelomo Fola-Ogunniya and Ujama Akpata, Cargoplug offers logistics services for imports, exports, and nationwide deliveries.
